Fire Resistance

Concrete block simply does not burn. Masonry walls have been used for centuries to limit the chances of devastating building fires and to contain fires from spreading.

Concrete masonry fire walls and fire separation walls may be designed to maintain structural integrity for over four hours of exposure. Concrete masonry is also used to protect the structural integrity of steel building elements from fire.

Concrete masonry is widely specified for fire walls and fire separation walls because these elements are noncombustible, provide durable fire resistance and are economical to construct.
